This is an introduction to the Drupal CMS. We go into detail on almost every aspect of how Drupal works.
In this course we touch on all the basics of both how Drupal works as well as how to put together your first Drupal site. We will spend some time discussing Drupal.org as a development tool and go through how to find what you are looking for, how to get things fixed as well as provide information on the key documentation available.
On Day 2 we will touch on some of the more advanced features of Drupal such as theming, multisite operation, module and theme hierarchy and JavaScript and
This course provides the ground work to lead the student into all of our Advanced training courses.
Day 1:
- how to install Drupal
- the keys to Drupal: nodes, blocks, teasers, pages
- users: registration, roles, access control
- finding your way around Drupal.org
- finding 3rd part modules, installing and enabling
- setting up site basics such as file storage, site information, theme, etc
Day 2:
- the Drupal block concept
- multisite concepts and tricks to using this in a multi-developer environment
- theme and module organization
- introduction to theming and templating concepts
- JS and
- Drupal cron
This course consists of 8 hours of in class training spread across 2 days (4 hours each day).
The concepts covered here do not require any knowledge of PHP and very little knowledge of SQL - but their is a lot of material covered. A solid understanding of web site design and at some knowledge of basic CMS concepts is required.
